Bollywood veteran actress Sharmila Tagore, who was recently seen on the streaming chat show ‘Koffee with Karan’ with her son Saif Ali Khan, talked about her cancer diagnosis on the show.

During the episode it was revealed that Sharmila Tagore was offered a supporting role in Karan Johar directed ‘Rocky Aur Rani Ki Prem Kahani’.

The show’s host Karan Johar revealed that he had earlier offered the role to Sharmila, but later Shabana Azmi took it up.

Sharmila Tagore said that she was worried about her health at that time. Karan said that he regrets not being able to work with him in this film.

In the film, Shabana plays the grandmother of Alia Bhatt’s lead character. Karan said, “I had offered the role played by Shabana ji to Sharmila ji, she was my first choice. But at that time due to health reasons she could not say yes. I regret it.”

Sharmila said, “Covid-19 was at its peak. I did not get the Covid vaccine. I took this step without taking any risk after my cancer.”

“It will be regrettable and I hope we can make up for it and work together,” Karan said.

Sharmila Tagore made her acting comeback with the first streaming film ‘Gulmohar’, which also starred Manoj Bajpayee. ‘Koffee with Karan’ season 8 is streaming on Disney Plus Hotstar.
