Loksabha Election, Election Commission/Raipur/Election Commission of India, New Delhi, in view of the upcoming Lok Sabha elections-2024, special issue of electoral rolls with photographs for registration, deletion, transfer and any kind of amendment in the entry of names of the citizens of the state in the voter list. Brief revision program year-2024 has been released.
According to the program released by the Commission, the initial publication of the voter list will be done in all the polling stations of the state on January 06, 2024 (Saturday) and with this the process of receiving claims and objections will start.
All citizens can submit claims and objections till January 22, 2024. During this period, a two-day special camp will also be organized in all the polling stations on 13 January 2024 (Saturday) and 14 January 2024 (Sunday).
After completing the resolution of all the claims and objections received during this period, the final publication of the electoral roll will be done on 08 February 2024 (Thursday). As per the instructions of the Commission, the voter list of all the polling stations will also be published on the website of the Chief Electoral Officer’s office https://ceochhattisgarh.nic.in, with initial publication on January 06, 2024 and final publication on February 8, 2024.
Regarding the special brief revision of electoral rolls, a meeting was organized by the Chief Electoral Officer, Chhattisgarh with the representatives of all political parties at the state level on 05 January 2024.
Special Brief Revision of Electoral Rolls 2024 The following is the information about voters registered in the state as on the qualifying date 01 January 2024:
As of the initial publication of voter list dated 06 January 2024, there are 1,01,49,798 (male), 1,02,72,119 (female), total 739 (third gender), total 2,04,22,656 registered voters in the state. At present the total number of polling stations in the state is 24109. The number of voters marked with disabilities (PwDs) in the voter list is total 1,62,215 in the initial publication. As of January 01, 2024, the total number of voters in the 18-19 age group is 4,94,452. Senior citizen voters (80+ age group) is 2,22,533.
The total number of service voters in Chhattisgarh as on the date of initial publication of electoral roll on 06 January 2024 is 19,905. Forms used in revision – Format-6 only for registration of new electors, Format-6A- for registering names of migrant electors, Format-6B- for obtaining Aadhaar number of electors (on voluntary basis), Format-7 existing electoral roll. For objection/deletion on the proposal to include the name in the electoral roll, for application to place the entry elsewhere in the Form-8 electoral roll and for correction of the entry. Regarding the revision program, a meeting of all recognized political parties was organized at the state level on January 05, 2023 and informed about the detailed program of revision of the Commission.
Such young citizens, who have completed 18 years of age as on January 01, 2024, can get their names added to the voter list by submitting an application in the prescribed format-6. During this period, application will be received in Format-7 for deletion of names of dead/permanently transferred voters and for correction of erroneous names/other necessary amendments and any kind of transfer, application will be received in Format-8. As per the instructions of the Election Commission of India, New Delhi, in addition to January 1, young citizens who have completed 18 years of age on April 1, July 1 and October 1, 2024 can also get their names added to the voter list in prescribed format-6. Will be able to apply.
To apply, common citizens can get the prescribed form through the booth level officer at their polling station. Election Commission of India, New Delhi has also provided the facility for citizens to apply online through “Voter Helpline App”. This application is available for download on both Android and iOS platforms. Apart from this, voters can also apply online for adding/amending their name through the website https://voters.eci.gov.in.
