Lok Sabha Elections 2024: Training given to sector officers

North Bastar Kanker/ In view of the upcoming Lok Sabha elections-2024, the sector officers appointed assembly wise of the district Training given. District Election Officer and Collector Abhijeet Singh addressed the training program through video conference and gave necessary instructions to all the sector officers.

The Collector said that elections are the highest priority and important work and all the officers and employees involved in it should discharge their assigned responsibilities as per the instructions of the Election Commission of India with full alertness, honesty and transparency. He said that there should not be any kind of negligence in election work. During this, Superintendent of Police Indira Kalyan Alesela and other officers were present.

In the meeting, the Collector took information from all the officers about the availability of basic facilities available in the polling stations like drinking water, toilet, shade, ramp, electricity, fan etc. He directed all the SDMs to remove the lack of basic facilities in the polling stations in view of the summer season during the elections. Ensure all necessary facilities in ideal polling stations especially for disabled and women voters in Sangwari booth.

He directed to send the information related to vulnerability mapping to the District Election Office through the concerned Assistant Returning Officer within 72 hours of the announcement of the election schedule, so that the information can be sent to the Commission within the stipulated time. During this, the Collector took information about the availability of mobile network in the polling stations and said that instructions were given to all the Assistant Returning Officers to make arrangements for wireless or runners to deliver information in areas where there is no network.

EDC will be issued to government servants using postal ballot
The District Election Officer told all the officers and employees engaged in election work that voting through postal ballot can be done only from the convenience centre. He informed that EDC certificate will be issued to the election workers for the Lok Sabha elections, through which all the workers will be able to cast their vote. The Collector told in the meeting that while submitting the application for postal ballot, many employees write the simple serial number wrongly, the application gets rejected and they are deprived of voting.

He said that the voter list is being updated from time to time, due to which the information of many voters also changes, hence everyone should check their name through the Election Commission’s website or mobile app, only then submit the application with correct information. Do this, so that postal ballot paper or EDC can be issued at the right time. A total of 251 sector officers and police officers, including 91 from Antagarh Assembly, 85 from Bhanupratappur Assembly and 75 from Kanker Assembly, participated in the said training programme.
