New Delhi, Aug 3 (IANS) After 65 years, the 32nd edition of the International Conference of Agricultural Economists (ICAE) is being organized at the National Agricultural Science Center (NASC) campus in India. Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated it. The foreign guests who attended the conference praised the contribution of Indian agriculture.
Hasmin, a participant from Bangladesh, praised India's position in global agriculture, noting that the country is a leader in the production of several agricultural commodities. “India is the largest producer in the world, not just for milk and spices, but for many products. This achievement is a testament to the hard work of Indian farmers,” he said.
Dodo Makwal of Kenya praised Prime Minister Modi's address and acknowledged India's significant progress in the agricultural sector. He said, “India is developing rapidly in the field of agriculture and the research being done here is commendable.” Makwal highlighted India's role in supplying food to other countries through its traditional agricultural development.
Sobran, another participant, praised India's ability to produce and export a wide variety of agricultural products. “India has a large population and the opportunities arising from this conference are immense. Our goal is to promote agriculture not only for companies but also for farmers,” he said. Sobran emphasized the importance of cooperation between India and other countries to leverage traditional systems and modern technologies. He also praised India's cultural and religious traditions and noted their positive impact on the country's strength.
Sobran concluded, “I have Indian colleagues at my university in Japan; they are smart and will return to India to apply their knowledge. Your Prime Minister is a good person, and I am glad to see him directly today.”
The Prime Minister said that the last time the ICAE conference was held here 65 years ago, India had just gained independence. That was a challenging time for India's food security and agriculture. Today, India is a food surplus country. Today, India is the largest producer of milk, pulses and spices. India is the second largest producer of grains, fruits, vegetables, cotton, sugar, tea and fish. There was a time when India's food security was a matter of concern for the world. Today is the time when India is engaged in providing solutions for global food security and global nutrition security.
